Things We Said Today

Can you guess who said what today?

~"Well that is just unacceptable and ridiculous." Westbrook upon seeing boys on his teammates jumping on the soccer balls instead of kicking them.

~"I hate work. People are stupid. " Clearly, Mary.

~"I am super exhausted because I have been dressed all day." Llandis as she peeled off her tights, pants, skirt, undershirt, shirt, and hair ties. It *is* exhausting to be dressed all day when you are wearing that much clothing.

~"I am super fabulous. " Llandis...because she is super fabulous.

~"I was awesome without even meaning to be awesome. Now *that* is awesome." Westbrook

~"Let's build a vacuum flipping empire!" Mary to Wade.

~"Why can't YOU keep up with the things that are important to ME?" Wade

Dear Santa

Llandis: Wants all kinds of princess stuff (her Mommy sighs)

Westbrook: Wants a mustache (his Mommy laughs)

That's What She Said

According to a whispering Llandis:
I love butterflies. I go in the forest to find butterflies. They land on my finger. I see butterflies in the forest. Last time, a porc-um-pine crawled up my arm. (walking her fingers up her arm) They are in my forest, that forest in my yard.

She didn't say it but let's just assume she thought it... Mommy's arms are the place to be...

That's What He Said

Per Laney: The other day when i was watching them, we went to a fountain and I gave them each 2 pennies and told them to make a wish and throw it into the fountain.. Westbrook:" I am wishing for mommy and daddy, Yaney are you going to wish for uncle Ben?"

Pewl Day

Westbrook: "Mommy, Daddy is taking us to the pewl. I can't believe it! Can you come? Bring your little computer and work in the pewl."

Me: "I don't think that will work for me buddy but you have fun."

Westbrook: " Ok, but you will be in my heart while I am in the pewl..... so get on your bathing suit on so you don't get your clothes wet."

That's What She Said

The scene: Llandis following Westbrook into the bathroom. The general crowd at my parents yelled for her to leave Westbrook to his business...
LL with a whimpery bottom lip: "But. But. But, I like to see the bubbles."

The scene: Llandis had a face full of pollen related sludge coming out of her nose. Being the good mother that I am, I cleaned it off.
LL" Hey, I was eating that!"

Right now*...

Westbrook is "Uncle Shaun" and Llandis is "Uncle Megan." In their storyline, Uncle Shaun is using his laser** and Uncle Megan is searching for her bracelets while pulling frog/purse by a jump rope.

Ten minutes ago... Westbrook held the part of "My Mommy" and Llandis was "My Baby" which resulted in a 30 second nap, a race around the kitchen island, and a laser assisted diaper change on the dog.

Twenty minutes ago... The real Llandis was faux-napping on the couch while "Super Westbrook Clobber Man" focused his laser and clobbers*** for "battle-play-fight." The conversation rotated between Llandis saying:
"Wookie Clobber, you be quiet. I am sleeping. Shhh you silly dofus."
OR
"Someone turn off the light. Llandy Llew is sleeping like a baby Llandy Llew. I'm Llandy Llew"

Westbrook: "Hands in the air, disco stick."****

Then a moment later she would follow up with "What you doing? I bump my head but it's ok. Dee dee doo doda."

*Right Now: Was intended to be at 6:30 pm but the kids kept changing this little role play game so I just watched, listened, and recorded the highlights.
**Laser: Wade's music stand
***Clobbers: Kitchen tongs.... duh.
****Um, yes. We saw Toy Story 3 today (9 thumbs up!) and I might let the kids listen to Lady Gaga in the car sometimes. Or always. Lesson learned.

That's What She Said

While I was brushing Llandis' hair in the bathroom:
LL: What dis, Mama
ME: That's daddy's deodorant.
LL: Oh, it smell like Dadda going to work.

At Target/On the Train/Riding in the Car/Anywhere/Anytime:
LL: Ohhhmygoodness.
LL: Oh, Momma, Oh. My. Goodness.
LL: Oh, pretty. So beautiful. Ohmygoodnesssssss.

As I put her down for a nap:
LL: Mama, you share sleep with me? Share sleep in my bed?
ME: I wish I could but I have to go help Wookie.
LL: He fiiiiiine. You share sleep wiiiiiiith meeeee. (cue cute smile and eyelash fluttering

At midnight, completely asleep stiff as a board in my arms with her legs stretched out and her arms above her head:

LL: I am not dofus!

At one am, sleeping but flailing:
LL: Noooo. That is my cheese. Mine. Mine. No. My cheese. I want cheese.

One thirty, head banging the headboard and reaching in the air for a mystery prize:
LL: Momma, no. My mommy. Mine. My mommy mommy. Yes. No. Mine.

Two am, after kicking me in the face eleven million times:
LL: That. Is. My. Cheese.

Three am, sleep log rolling from one side of the king size bed to the other:
LL: No. Mommy. Wookie. Where Mommy? No. No. My cheese.

(We are working the kamikaze sleep talking/crawling situation. I would love any tips if anyone has helped a child get through it or helped yourself by padding the kid's room and sleeping through the madness/sadness.)

WB: Hmm. Not really. All I did today was dance around with a sock on my head.

Wednesday, May 12

I like to move it, move it.

Westbrook built a foam letter dance floor in the living room at 8am and requested I play "really fast shaking songs that says words like move it" so he could have a dance party. I picked "Bust A Move" by Young MC which he declared was too slow and not shaking enough.

Where do you think he comes from?

Sunday, April 25

Westbrook holding a cup of ice water: "Mommy. Mommy, I just got a glass of ice and water to cool my too hot body."

Sunday, April 18

ImaJustaSayin

Llandis put a bracelet on my wrist, grabbed my face, kissed me and said "I wuv eww, Mommy. Ewws are my most beeeutiful."
____

Westbrook found me on the couch..."MOMMY! It doesn't count as hiding if you are just sitting on the couch reading!" (In my defense, I was there almost 15 minutes while the kids searched my room and the playroom. I would say it was a fine place to hide.)

____

Westbrook: "Mommy, I wrote a special song. It sounds like this... My mommy loves me. She really loves me. She makes me love."

____

Westbrook: "Mommy, it would be my best if you would go away for just a second. Poodle and I are doing something you don't want to see."

___

Llandis: "Where Dadddy? He in tree house? Working?"
Westbrook: "He is working on balls it more." (Baltimore)

___

Westbrook: "Mommy, when will I be grown up? When will all my teeth fall out and I get big teeth? I want to have my own tools and work with Daddy on the tree house. MOMMY TURN AROUND AND LOOK!  I am getting little hairs on my arms. Can you get me my own car to ride today? I am old enough with hairs on my arms."

___

Llandis: "Mommy. Mommy. Mommy. I want christ crispy treats." (Clearly, rice crispy treats.... just in case you couldn't figure it out.)

___

And last but not least, Llandis fell asleep while we were driving to the grocery store. I tried to wake her up. I shook her arms, tickled her legs. Nothing. I carried all 37lbs of her while Westbrook pushed the kids cart. I instructed him which way to go while he pushed that dreadful little cart in zig zags. He was pretty adorable despite his poor cart driving skills. He only rammed my achilles tendon four times. He heaved the milk into the cart ("I got this Mommy. You gotted your arms full of Llandis."). He pulled the bread down. He offered to get me a magazine during checkout. We got a few dirty looks, two "what a great helper you have there" and one incredibly kind "I guess people don't get babysitters anymore*" that came complete with an eyeroll. My favorite was the guy in the parking lot that jumped out of his car to offer a helping hand as I loaded the grocery bags into the van. We pretty much had it under control at the point but he did take my cart to the return which made up for the babysitter comment. He was very kind. (Side note: His wife, however, was angry as she could be over him helping me. She had her hands on her hips and everything. Yikes. I can't stop wondering what her problem was... are they always late because he just has to help every person he passes in the street, does she hate kids and the moms who lug the around, or do you think she is just jealous of women who are red faced, sweaty, wearing a mom uniform (all black with yoga pants- again) with arms shaking under the weight of her child? Not matter her reason, it seemed unnecessary. )

When I thanked Westbrook for being such a good helper in the store, he said "It's cool, Mama. Blow it up." (Blow it up... a fight pump followed by an explosion sound.)

*It wasn't clear who the woman was irritated by... me carrying a sleeping child or Westbrook banging around with his little cart.

Quote of the Day

Me: "Llandis, what shape do you see?"
Llandis: "Circle, triangle, sandwich."
Me: "You mean square?"
Llandis: Pretends to grab the square on the computer screen... "Nope. It is yummy sandwich you silly willy."

Friday, April 2

Westbrook quote of the day: "Mommy, do you hear the noise coming out of my ears? I think it is dogs. Why are dogs barking in my ears? That is so weird."

Saturday, March 6

Surprise!

ME:

Hey WB, we are going to drop Llandy off with Gram and have a special afternoon. How do you feel about that?

WB:

WB:
I make silly faces when I am excited.

Me:
Do you make silly faces when you eats milkshakes?

WB:
WB:
Whaaaaaat? Milkshakes! I loooove milkshakes with ice cream.

Shake It

Llandis likes to shake her booty when her diaper is off. On occasion we will give her a little pat while she is doing her nakie dance. All of this is done in the privacy of her room, typically on her changing table.

I took the kids to Starbucks yesterday morning for muffins as a special little treat . At one point Llandis stood up in the packed cafe, lifted her dress up over her tush (she had on leggings), and shook her tail feather. She screamed "BOOTY BOOTY BOOTY... Mama! Mama! Spank my boooooooooty!" She did it again. Five times.

Oh, the shame.

Wednesday, March 3

Quote of the Day

Westbrook:
Mommy, do you know why I was crying earlier why you were up in your office working? I was really in need of your love.

Monday, March 1

After getting her hair done...

(Llandis sporting her pretty top knots)
Llandis:
Oh Mommy, I am so pretty. Thank you, Mommy. Llandy Llew so pretty. Oh yeah. Uhhhhh huuuuhhhhhhhh. See me? Wookie, you see me? WOOKIE YOU SEE ME PRETTY?

Still Hungry

In the car, after his I-can't-wait-until-we-get-home-in-less-than-one-minute snack.

WB:

Mommy, when we get home I want to have cheese. And crackers. And a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Oh, can I have some, wait no I want to have, it would make me happy to have raisins. With applesauce. Do we still have blueberries? I think I need to have, if we have, I wanna have.... Gosh, I am exhausted.

You and me both, kid.
